Dont bother abt Pure Yoga! I had the chance to tried both, yes in True, sales staff are bad, but teachers are good. Pure is WORST! Try standing at the counter with an ang-mo... and be there first,... see who they attend to! Do u need to do yoga everyday? if not i recommend try other fitness center... There's good instructor too! Try Dr Yogi Ram at cali, he is great, theres 1 or 2 yoga teacher who are realy good at Planet too! dont be mis-led....

hi yoga_dd,
ha.. i think i know what you meant.. being treated differently. it's the same if u take on any SQ flight.. angmoh are usually being treated better by SQ girls than singaporean..but i would rather be nobody attend to me at Pure than being harrassed by the sales/mgmt personnel fr True.. anyway, it's your money, u decide where you want to spend.

hi wonderland

hi yogi and wonder

totally agreed with yogi!!!!! i experienced it at the new branch(Pure) at Hitachi Tower,...To the " ang mo" they r very attentive,.me stood there for awhile then get wat i wanted!!! Try the Takashimaya Branch Sales Staff are "slightly" better, was a member at the taka branch(short term) before i go to their new branch. But tink i will transfer my membership to Taka...At Pure, i really love their hot yoga" my favorite teacher ..catherine..i can only look forward for their improvement and equality of treatment to us the "locals"...and not favor the ang mo" so much and so obvious lor...

I've been a member at Pure for 4 months and have recently quit and am looking for smaller establishments to further my yoga practice. There are several good teachers at Pure who provide great instructions and are very inspirational. The location is great if you work in the area.

However, the classes have been getting real crowded in the past months (it seems that members from a closing studio have been transferred to Pure), hence you'll be hard pressed for much (if any) attention from the teacher during the peak hour classes.

Also, I've had my belongings stolen from the locker room and have since heard a couple more similar cases ('Unfortunately we have some questionable members..' was the consolation i got from the Pure manager. Anyhow, be sure to put ALL your belongings into the lockers and secure properly. Don't let your guard down just because you are in a 'club'). I wouldn't wish for anyone else to feel such personal harassment.

The 'favor ang mo' disease is no different here. I guess it boils down to staff training (or lack of).

Hi there,

I agree with you about the class size at Pure which doesn't allow much interaction with the teacher. I attended 2 trial classes and definitely found it unsuitable for a new practitioner like myself. I'm sticking to smaller classes with more focus on proper practice!

Namaste!

my dear friends, i know one yoga teacher in singapore and he is a very very good teacher.. He is from rishikesh and his name is Prakash...His classes makes sense as he explains postures with deep and meaningful explanations.. At the same time, his relaxation skills are wonderful, feels like you have entered in a different world of silence. He is probably working for all about yoga in singapore...

namste jadepo, i am very happy that you still remember me.... yes, prakash is the same guy. his emial is psbyoga at yahoo dot com and i think he is still in singapore if i am not wrong, previously he was in manila and i had a chance with him to learn nada meditation with my mother. my mom had ringing in ears and she was very depressed, but seems like after attending prakash's classes, she is more positive towards life..... i am really very very happy that i have met prakash and now he is more like a god to us..... good luck to your practice. are you in singapore?

So far my experience at Pure Yoga has been good! The staff is generally helpful and the teachers professional though quiet in class, but more than helpful should you consult them after class. The only thing I wonder is whether they practice differential pricing and charge different members different prices? I'm paying just over $200 a month for a month to month membership without any contarct term. How bout eveyone eles out there?

Hi jaya, Jadepo,

Prakash left "all about yoga" studio. I use to learnt from him, unfortunately, there are some disagreement b/w prakash & the studio...and now he is teaching at PURE. i wish to join his class but for sure is not at PURE..we are still in contact & discussing about taking private lesson with him.

i think it is difficult when service is a human element. the management can try, but if the counter staff themselves respond naturally, it's very had to change that reaction. if SQ can't help it, i don't think a yoga studio can do much. reality is, this "better treatment for ang mo" is a social disease in SG, not just in any one single establishment.

To : Woonderland
If i'm not wrong there are a few diff membership packages in Pure.
- 1yr contract (can only access to 1 club so u decide which centre u want to go, u can also deduct your monthly membership fee thru GIRO)

- 2yr contract (u can access to all the centres in SG and HK / Taiwan, but no GIRO deduction allowed, the lump sum will charge to credit card, the mthly fee is so much cheaper than 1yr contract if u divide to 24months)

- month to month (no contract, but u pay more)

- 10 lesson package (i think is 300+ and valid for 6months)

totally agreed with you. luckily i didnt experienced being treated badly as an asian and a Pure member for 2yrs. the staff at both centres (Ngee Ann & Chevron) are very nice and helpful.

Hi Guys.

Yoga is for yourselves. I am member with Pure Yoga for 3rd years, and find some teachers are really good. You will need to find what you want from practicing yoga first, before you select one. Are you going after being powerful or being peaceful...

Each place has pros and cons, and that is all upto you how you use it.

If you avoide lunch & right after working hour, it's not very crowded. Not all teachers are attentive to begginers, but some are yes. Some teachers are very attentive, and willing to help beginers.

All upto you. Don't feel bad about not being in the pose at the beggining...

Cheers

Agree with Jaya.

After 2 year yoga practice, finally found one teacher suits my needs, and his name is Prakash. :>

I like his deep stretching and bring awareness to true yoga practice and guidance to link yoga with self awareness.

Wonderful experience which I want to share with you all.

Yoga is not all about power. Ultimate goal of yoga is to bring you into deeper meditation..... He does true teaching...of yoga in traditional way. Very truthful way.

Good luck to you ~

hi to all, full of agree with the person who talk about prakash teacher, i had one lesson with him and his relaxation is very spiritual, his brethe attention guided theory is deep and seems it has come to his soul by his deep practice///////

he took good care of mine and i felt very wonderful after his class, hath beginner class, he teaches evening time.

another teacher i fogot his name also good, but no relaxation to his class, although the power class was a good cardio workout.

for me pure yoga seems very comfortable place of practicing yoga. front desk is also good and polite.

pure yoga is good.. but then, i feel that it is a pity that it seem like there is a high turnover for their sales personnel.. those previous sales personnel (the first batch) at the raffles placae branch are really friendly and approachable, unlike the current batch!!

kenny's hatha 2 is fantastic I find. His power classes are good too but his hatha classes are really very different from most of the other teachers classes at pure. I think he teachers hatha in the traditional style..with very little warm up (or at least in the way that students are normally used to with surya namaskars). He warms you from with some simple stretching or a couple of rounds of sun salutations before heading straight into a really interesting and varied mix of asanas. His sequencing is a really graceful flow and makes your (almost) forget that you are trying some pretty tricky poses!
