yes, i totally agree.. dont think there is a need to do so if the boss is REALly good. haha.. guess it is subjective.

boss definately very good in his own yoga practise but this does not mean his way of teaching is good for some individual students. heard he is very pushy which may lead to personal injury since he doesnt know your internal pain. so you gotta be a decision maker whether he is good or not. agree with above post that this is very subjective. Happy New Year to 2010 - peace.

I have once attended his Hatha B at TY, it wasn't a big class with about 10 to 15 students, there was a not-so-flexible student who jerked hard his body continuously trying to get deeper following verbal instructions, and he allowed the student to continue doing that without guidance nor intervention. As far as I know that was wrong and potentially injurious, I was put off by his teaching (or non teaching) and have not gone back to him since. I guessed "good yoga teacher" means different thing to different people, it is up to individual to find out for themselves, and not be taken by advertisements and propagandas.

I have also heard stories about him that he likes to push the student even until the student screams that he/she cant take it. He should realise that not everyone is as flexible as him and everyone has their own limits.

The masters who push the student around are not the only Saumik. Some masters push the stuedents even they are in pain.

I think pain or no pain, the person who was being pushed should know. If the pain was that bad until unbearable, I am sure there will be no turning back or they may even need ambulance to send them for medical assistance. Its not for the outsider to comment or critics. I am sure all first timer (or even early practise of certain postures) you will feel the pain. To me, I feel the pain even in corpse pose initially due to lower back ache.

Me, too. Especially when I did backbend in the class. I think it causes pain because the arch of lower back bone return to original position. We should not neglect the symptom if we have it very often.

Yes agreed. pain is caused when our body is trying to tell us something. It should not be ignored until it gets worse.

Yes, and I am one of the victims who is suffering from the "instructor's pushing and forcing". And i strongly believe there are plenty of them who are like me regretting..

When the master make adjustments, you should not go against the force. Part of the reason for them to push is because they see the capacity you have to go deeper into the pose. May be to you is regret. But if you think positively, take it as a lesson. Learn to understand why would you have such pain when the pushing comes in. If you communicate with your instructor/master well may be they can explain to you about the reason. Or may be if you have history about certain part of your body, you should tell him/her before entering the class.

hi, yes, unfortunately i was under his training when i first started practising yoga. Initially, everything was fine, until one day, when i realised that my knees are in pain whenever i climb stairs. Now, due to my injury, I have to stick to my half lotus and not full lotus. Now, you may be enjoying the attention that the teacher is giving by pushing or forcing you to go to the posture, but at the same time injuries are there waiting for you. Always listen to your body and do asanas based on your body's ability. Best of luck.

i am just wondering why people label his training as the best in Singapore. I guess that remark must have come from his fans again. =)

Good or best about a yoga master is feeling from the heart, the feelings of his sincere teachings, no pain no gain, sometimes pain is not pain, but rather a stretch in the body, often we classify that as pain. Why? because our body joints too tight already, don't know what's the feelings of stretch so called it as pain lor. master push according to our body conditions.

agree with regret. REAL YOGA IS AS BAD AS TRUE YOGA. always emphasis on instructors winning in competitions but whether they can really teach or not. don't have to blow the trumpet if they are really that good.

if Real Yoga is so good and so cosy like some people said why former members from True who go over to Real Yoga come back to True to practise and complained about real Yoga to other members.

What type of complains and are the complains valid? Otherwise, no point in writing into the forum.
I would love to attend class with Master Dev but he is the only teacher at Real Yoga I would like to study with, I stay put with True yoga because there are more teachers / classes available.

Human are weird, like to complain others but never want to complain about own self. Most gossips started from own, but put the blame to others.
